Hey did I say I want to paint a horse? Well, I did!! Topaz is its name.. This is my third try and I like how it turned out (even I think the pose of the animal is a bit static, all because I am not sure about horse anatomy in general .did not have enough courage to try more dynamic one) The painting is based on a picture I took in summer as we visited a horse farm. Bella always liked this picture and wanted me to draw a horse for her. Sure I had to give it a fantasy features with my love to fantasy Surpisingly beautiful scan but you can not see that it's mane is golden I used gold pigments by Schmincke for the first time and I like how it looks on illustrations Watercolor on Fabriano hot pressed paper, A4 Hope you like it!
Edit: gone over with purple to define shadows of the horse's body, added more foliage ( both dark and light) and more purple to the misty bg Thanks to for ideas and to other fellow artist-friend who said 'again you are afraid of darks' and this way helped to solve some problems
gorgeous work, due to my 3yr olds love for unicorns since she is a princess I have been looking alot at unicorn work getting ready to paint her one and this is by far the most pretty, I love the green vines in the hair
this is gorgeous! the horse is very pretty. I really like the purple overtones it gives it more of that fantasy feel the background is also very well done. lovely work!
